Gravel Garden &
Entrance Borders

Sevenoaks, Kent

Front garden transformation into a low maintenance gravel garden within central Sevenoaks.

A new central border, complete with multi stem tree and water bowl, creates a new focal point within the space. Domes and curving lines have been used to accentuate the shape of pre-existing pathways and borders. A complete planting refresh was also undertaken across entrance and rear borders, using planting suitable for free-draining soil and tailored to the aspect of given planting beds.

The photographs below show the garden newly planted, with space for plants to grow into their full, mature size.

Design can be an iterative process - the illustration below depicts a view of the gravel garden with an emphasis on wildlife-friendly planting and habitats, with an element of edible planting for a keen cook. As the design process progressed and plans for the house and garden evolved, this design was refined to a create a simple, reflective space in seasonal colours of purple, white and a flush of pink.
