Coastal Garden

Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex

Previously laid to lawn and patio, the brief for this garden redesign was to bring elements of the nearby beach closer to home. Drawing inspiration from native coastal planting and echoing materials synonymous with the beach, we developed a new garden design brimming with texture and year-round interest.

Through observation of the local pebble beach in Shoreham-by-Sea, we carefully curated a plant palette combining native and ornamental plants, designed to replicate the shapes, colours and textures found on the beach.

A combination of larger and smaller format stonework has been used to create built features within the garden. A curved, drystone-effect wall brings definition to an outdoor dining area, doubling up as a perch spot and focal point. Whilst a complementary combination of paving formats create pause points and pathways through the garden.
